Brief Description: This site will be an access point for training WSLHD Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff to improve end-of-life communication with patients who have a life limiting illness.

The online training will contain tools and information that will improve your capacity to engage in conversations with patients about the choices they can make as they approach the end-of-life.

We will provide information, videos and suggested phrases and questions to elicit information from patients and help them make decisions that will facilitate improved quality of life on discharge.

The treatment verification imaging guidelines change frequently as a result of the introduction of new technologies and processes. Also, the radiation therapists frequently make decisions based on the treatment verification images that could have a significant impact on the outcome of a patient's treatment.

For these reasons, at Radiation Oncology Network - Westmead and Blacktown campuses, the radiation therapists are required to complete a short assessment once every 2 years. This program is designed to encourage radiation therapist to revise and seek further assistance if required such as reading the work instructions and guidelines in Wiki or to receive a face to face tutorial with an expert.

The aim of this program is for participants to gain an understanding of the role of the Preceptor and to develop knowledge and skills they can apply when working with students, new staff members and GradStart/ MidStart staff members. 

The Preceptor Program consists of two parts:

  • CSK14701 Preceptor Program Part 1 (Moodle) 
  • CSK14590 Preceptor Program Part 2 (2 hour Face to Face or Virtual)
